The Battle of Cajamarka, capturing the Inca King Atahulpa by Pizzaro, 15 November 1532

HOW THE ENCOUNTER WITH ALIENS WILL BE?

OR,

ARE THERE ALIENS REALLY?

Most of us wonder if there is life out of our own World. We haven’t got any evidence of life there yet. We as humans, being intelligent and curious, would like to find life beyond our world and wouldn’t like to be isolated and alone in the universe.

However, beyond the curiosity, we do not think about the outcomes of this wonder. Would it be good for us to encounter the aliens from an outside world? What we expect? What will happen then? Would we exchange hellos, and welcomes and cooperate? Or will we have a very formidable enemy as soon as we meet with them? I think, the result of encounter depends on whether we find them or they find us.

I would like to discuss the encounter of aliens with a metaphor of the encounter of Spaniards with Incas. The situations of the discoveries in many respects have similarities. When Christopher Colombus could travel with his ships across Atlantic Ocean he and the crew did not know what they would encounter. The venture was extremely dangerous and difficult, nobody could have made such travel before. Europe and Americas were so far away and isolated from each other at the time 1492 AD like the situation we have now: two worlds in the space so isolated and far away from each other. No communication has been exchanged between the two worlds so far.

Firstly, like for the case of the Spaniards and Incas, I believe that the party that discovers the other party should always be more evolved and developed technologically and culturally than the other. Only the developed and advanced party could discover the other first, because it is much more difficult to do that for the underdeveloped party to discover the opposite, when the worlds both parties live are so far apart from each other that nobody from either side could have made a travel before.

Therefore, the life forms that we, humans in the world, discover outside of our planet should most probably be the lower life forms than us, such as cellular organisms, or some form of plants. These life forms even may be harmful to us as they may contain some kind of organisms that infect us. Beyond that we most probably will not be in a serious danger. On the contrary, we, as discoverers of their planet may give harm to them as what we have been doing to our environment in our planet for years.

In the case if some aliens will find us, I think, we will be in trouble. If they find us before we find them that means they are more developed and advanced than us, like Spaniards were over Incas. Spaniards went and discovered the Americas, but Incas did not manage to go to Spain because Spaniards have writing and Incas did not, Spaniards had the advanced ships and technologies that can travel across Atlantic Ocean but Incas did not, Spaniards had the fire guns but Incas did not, Spaniards had armors but Incas did not, Spaniards had steel swords and spears but Incas did not, Spaniards had horses but Incas did not, Spaniards had germs that cause epidemics to the other but Incas did not. What happened when Pizzaro and his 168 men encountered with emperor Atahulpa and his 80.000 soldiers in Cajamarca Peru? 168 Spaniards immediately attacked Incas and won the battle, killed nearly 5000 Incas, and captured their emperor Atahulpa. Later, Pizzaro confiscated tons of gold that Inca had in return to save their emperor. He brought this fortune to Spain back. Although he got all of their golds available as ransom payment for the life of their emperor, he did not hesitate to kill the emperor Atahulpa, and there was even much worse than this for Incas, they were killed to nearly extinction by the germs that the European carry in their bodies and had already developed immunity against them in the years, but Incas did not. (By the way I recommend you to read Jared Diamond’s book of “Guns, Germs and the Steel”, printed in 1997, where I get the information related to this paragraph).

I believe if an alien life form visits our planet and finds us they would most probably act like what Spaniards did when they had encountered with poor Incas. We will most probably be killed by the diseases that will be caused by the germs they carry in their bodies because we are not immune to those alien germs. If not, we will be destroyed by their much more advanced weapons and methods that we could not even aware of, and imagine.

My conclusions after saying these are:

1. It is impossible that we have had some forms of aliens visiting us in their flying saucers so far as some people claim. Because if such had happened then we should most probably have been destroyed by them already.

2. I suggest we should be wise and prudent enough, and not send signals out into the space to cause us to be known by some alien societies, if there are, because of the reasons that:

a. Firstly, if they are not as developed as we are they would not even detect and decipher them,

b. Secondly and most importantly, if they are more advanced than us they would most probably not come here for our good.
